Patrick Breen from County Wexford. Taken prisoner in 1941 when his ship, the Athelfoam, was attacked in the North Atlantic by the German battleship Scharnhorst, Breen was the first Irish prisoner to die, in May 1943, in the labour camp at Farge.

The radio officer Gerald O’Hara from Ballina, in County Mayo. He was taken prisoner when his ship, the Devon, was attacked off the Galapagos Islands by the German surface raider Komet. O’Hara died in the Farge labour camp in March of 1944.

William Knott from Ringsend in Dublin. Knott survived his years as a slave worker in the Farge camp, and gave evidence against his SS captors in Hamburg in 1947.
